Description

Trial trenching was carried out on circa 3ha of land prior to proposed mineral extraction, in order to establish the nature of the archaeological resource, and to inform future planning decisions. Ten trenches were excavated, placed to investigate anomalies identified by prior geophysical survey. Trench measurements were:- Trenches 1, 4 and 7 measured 10m by 3m; Trenches 2, 3, 5, 6, 8 and 10 measured 20m by 2m; and Trench 9 measured 30m by 2m.{1}
