Trial trenching was undertaken to establish the presence/absence of archaeological remains and to inform future planning decisions. Fourteen trenches and six test pits were excavated, positioned with relation to prior geophysical survey and fieldwalking survey. Trench measurements were: Trench 1 - 20.1m by 4.9m; Trench 2 - 13.1m by 11.1m, extended by 15.5m by2.14m; Trench 3 - 20.65m by 2.16m; Trench 4 - 13.05m by 2.24m; Trench 5 - 12.55m by 2.32m; Trench 6 - 31.53m by 2.14m; Trench 7 - 13.48m by 2.1m; Trench 8 - 9.79m by 2.24m; Trench 9 - 11.13m by 2.28m; Trench 10 - 14.55m by 2.17m; Trench 11 - 11.22m by 2.2m; Trench 12 - 10.88m by 2.2m; Trench 13 (L-shaped) - 14.1m by 2.2m, 28.7m by 2.2m; Trench 14 - 22.1m by 2.18m; Trenches 15-20 - 2m by 2m test pits. No archaeological remains were found in any of the test pits.{1}
