Description

Trial trenching was undertaken on circa 4.4ha of land prior to residential development. Twenty five trenches were excavated, Trenches 21-25 being additional/extended trenches. Twenty three trenches measured 15m by 1.6m, and two measured 15m by 8m. Trenches were placed based largely on the results of a prior geophysical survey, but also included blank areas. Circa 2% of the total site was sampled, and sixteen trenches contained no archaeological remains.{1}
