Description
A watching brief was carried out during excavations for the replacement of a water main. Four access pits measuring between 5m by 2.5m and 9m by 3m, all circa 2m deep, were excavated. Pit 3 was considered too dangerous for the field team to enter. However, excavations conducted in 1994 in the field directly west of Pit 3, alongside evidence from Pits 1 and 2, would suggest that a significant amount of archaeological material was exposed in Pit 3.{1}
