Description
An evaluation, in the form of augering, was undertaken on Castle Hill Scheduled Ancient Monument to assess the presence and character of the archaeological resource within the SAM. The augering line was positioned across the moat to determine the depths of deposits and to establish, where possible, the date of formation. A gouge auger was used at 1m intervals on a transect positioned across the moat.{1}
