Description

Eight trial trenches were excavated on land at Ancaster Quarry, Heydour, to inform a proposed quarry extension. The evaluation confirmed the presence of the parallel flanking gullies for the trackway identified in the prior phase of geophysical survey, and found the boundary ditch to be Middle Iron Age in date. No evidence was encountered for the possible circular enclosure, and both of the suspected ring ditches were found to be of geological origin. {1}{2}
