Description

An archaeological excavation was conducted on land off Foundry Street, Horncastle, prior to the construction of four new terraced houses. Three phases of Iron Age and Roman enclosures were excavated. Post-dating the enclosures was a layer of 'dark earth' and three undated but potentially late Roman burials. A fragment of an Iron Age coin pellet mould fragment was recovered, suggesting a possible nearby coin production site. {1}{2}
