A detailed gradiometer survey was conducted to inform proposed residential development on land off Station Road, Waddington. Extensive magnetic noise clearly relating to the site of a demolished former farmstead was noted at the western edge of the survey area, along with a pattern of faint linear magnetic anomalies across a large part of the site, thought to likely represent the remains of denuded ridge and furrow. Other magnetic anomalies clearly relating to modern field drains and likely 20th century activity was also noted. {1} Subsequent trial trenching in this area confirmed the pattern of modern field drains across all of the site (see ELI14550).
