Description

Following an earlier geophysical survey (ELI14513) and desk based assessment (ELI14514) thirty trial trenches were excavated at Greatford Quarry, Greatford, in advance of proposed gravel extraction. An extensive field system and a small area of occupation with an assemblage of Roman pottery was recorded. It was noted that the results of the excavation aligned fairly well with the results of the geophysical survey and cropmarks through most of the site with the notable exception of the northeast field. {1}{2}
