An archaeological excavation was conducted on land at 7 The Wong, Horncastle, to inform the proposed construction of two new dwellings. A pair of parallel ditches of Roman date was encountered, as well as a group of undated pits and postholes. A so-called "dark earth" post-Roman accumulation layer was identified across the whole site. {1}{2}
