Description
Twenty nine trial trenches were excavated on land at Holdingham, Sleaford, to inform a proposed development. A number of undated pits, ditches and post holes were encountered, as well as a series of north-south aligned furrows across the site. Two ditches produced sherds of Medieval pottery. {1}{2}
Previous geophysical survey (see ELI14206) suggested the presence of a large post-Medieval quarry feature, which was not encountered during this trenching. An agricultural or natural explanation was offered for the appearance of the anomaly.
