Description

A magnetometry survey was conducted on land at Holdingham, Sleaford, to inform a proposed development. Ridge and furrow was encountered across the width of the site, truncated in the centre by a large east-west aligned feature interpreted as a post-Medieval quarry. The survey also encountered a possible penanular ditch feature and the remains of several small possible enclosures. {1} Subsequent trial trenching (see ELI14214) revealed that the large anomaly thought to be a quarry feature was not present, with a natural or agricultural explanation given for its presence in the survey. Other undated pits, ditches and post holes were encountered across the site, as was the ridge and furrow identified in this survey.
