Four trial trenches were excavated on land to the east of Mill Lane, Woodhall Spa, to inform a proposed residential development on the site. Aside from a ditch of likely mid 18th century date and an undated curvilinear ditch, no archaeologically significant features, deposits or finds were encountered. {1}{2} The trenching confirmed magnetic anomalies recorded during prior magnetometric survey as being either modern disturbance or variations in the geology (see ELI13579).
