Description

A geophysical survey by magnetometry was undertaken prior to the development of a new primary school at Poplar Farm, Grantham. A series of weak positive linear anomalies was identified across the site, representing possible former cut features such as ditches. A number of smaller discrete positive anomalies in the centre of the site may represent a number of backfilled pits. The survey also identified southeast-northwest aligned former ridge and furrow across the entire site. {1}{2} A programme of archaeological monitoring and trial trenching confirmed the presence of both the ridge and furrow and a single east-west aligned ditch identified during this survey (see ELI13987).
