Description

A historic building survey of the former Red Cow Hotel, prior to the proposed demolition of some elements at the rear of the building and the construction of residential units. Five buildings were surveyed: the main hotel building and the Assembly Room building on the street front, the stables and probable brewhouse behind them, a former north wing of the hotel, partially demolished prior to survey, and the discrete demolished Tap Room to the north, also demolished. The hotel is suspected to originally be of 17th century date, with architectural and internal elements dating to the 19th century. {1}{2}
