Two trial trenches were excavated to inform the proposed construction of new football training facilities on land off Heath Lane, Scampton (in Welton parish). The trenches were targeted to investigate a number of geophysical anomalies recorded by a prior magnetometry survey (see ELI13791), and resolved the magnetic anomalies thought to represent possible archaeological features at the southern end of the site as further natural geological variation.
