A site inspection was carried out at the Mermaid Inn, Surfleet, to inform design proposals on the listed building. Five main phases of construction were identified for the building, with the earliest part of the building dating to the early 18th century and the most recent parts being 20th century extensions. A historical background was also written about the inn, as well as the former associated Surfleet Brewery. {1}
