Description

Historic graffiti at the Church of St Thomas a Becket was recorded by the Lincolnshire Medieval Graffiti Project. The survey identified a large number of historic marks, located all around the church and comprising a very wide variety of graffiti types and designs. The marks include a large number of names, dates and initals, witch marks, compass-drawn designs, masons marks, faces and shoe inscriptions, amongst many other symbols. Perhaps some of the more significant marks include a possible gaming board design, a possible harp carving, and a possible figure or ship design. {1}
