Description

A programme of archaeological recording was conducted during groundworks to inspect the condition of a medieval grave slab found within the chuchyard of the Church of St Peter, Lenton. The inspection allowed more detailed recording of the grave slab, which is decorated with carvings of an axe and knife on either side of a cross, and is believed to be of 13th century date. A discussion of the options for the grave slab's reburial or display was also held to assist its future preservation. {1}
