Description

A site visit was made to inform the production of a management plan for proposed consolidation works to East Wykeham Church. Originally built as a functioning church in the late 11th or 12th century, the building had become ruinous by the beginning of the 17th century, although the site appeared to still be used for burials into the 18th century. The church remains were rebuilt as a folly in about 1800 by the Child family, who are said to have constructed a burial vault on the site. {1}
