Description

The levelling of medieval saltern mounds in this area led to the discovery of kilns. H. Healey directed an excavation on the site. {1} An area measuring 12m by 23m was excavated, placed over the fired clay feature first identified and a large spread of burnt material to its east. An emergency trench was also placed across the site to drain the surface water.{2}
