A programme of archaeological monitoring and recording was conducted during groundworks for the construction of a new dwelling with detached garage on land adjacent to Lapwing, 72 Backgate, Cowbit. A backfilled drainage dyke of probable late post-medieval or early 20th century date was identified, but no archaeologically significant features, deposits or finds were encountered. {1}{2}
