Description

A fluxgate gradiometer was conducted to inform proposed residential development on land off Prebend Lane, Welton. A probable Iron Age or Romano-British ditched enclosure with associated pit-like features was identified at the southern edge of the surveyed area. Further possible ditch and pit-like features were identified in the centre of the western field and at the north-west corner of the eastern field. {1} Subsequent trial trenching in this area confirmed the ditched enclosure and associated features, but proved all of the other recorded magnetic anomalies to be of natural origin (see ELI12296).
