A watching brief was undertaken during groundworks for a new toilet block and drainage works at Holy Trinity Collegiate Church. Evidence for a former graveyard and associated inhumations were recorded, predating the existing building. This would suggest the presence of an earlier structure on the site, possibly contemporary with the earliest phases of the adjacent castle. Glass fragments of 15th and 18th/19th century dates, and a circular brick-lined crucible were also recorded, indicating a long history of renovation of the existing church. {1}{2}
