A programme of archaeological monitoring was conducted during groundworks for the construction of a new community centre on land at Navenby Sports Field. Previous geophysical survey of this area had identified a small number of magnetic anomalies of potential archaeological origin (see ELI13086). The monitoring resolved all of these anomalies as either areas of natural geological variation or modern disturbance, although did also record the remains of two small pits, not previously identified. No finds were recovered from either of the pit features, however, and their exact date and function remains unknown. {1}{2}
