A watching brief was carried out during groundworks associated with a new extension and access improvements to the gallery. A single sherd of Roman pottery and a small amount of animal bone were recovered from the service trenches whilst the lift shaft contained only a soil layer with frequent 20th century building debris probably originating during the construction of the gallery. {1}{2}
