Description
TA 11 SW BROCKLESBY BROCKLESBY PARK 1/31 The Mary Carter Temple 1-11-66 G.V. II Garden temple, early C19 Ashlar front, ashlar and red brick rear with slate roof having lead dressings. Small rectangular cella plan. Facade consists of a tetrastyle of unfluted Doric columns, full entablature and pediment with metope frieze, pilasters in antis behind the front. Dentillations with patterned undersides on the archivolt surfaces. In the centre of the cella is a Roman pagan altar of stone bearing a latin inscription: 'Dis Manibus Octavian CAMIAE CHADIO'. Round, garlanded with frieze of acanthus leaves and a hollow in the top for burnt offerings and incense. Listing NGR: TA1380210830
