TF 19 NE THORESWAY CROXBY MAIN STREET (south side) 4/56 Croxby Hall 1.11.66. II* Small country house. c1730. Redbrick with ashlar dressings, hipped slate roof with moulded wooden eaves and 2 large stacks to rear. Square plan. 2 storey and attic, 3 bay east front with first floor brick band and and brick band at eaves. Central doorway with C19 brick porch with hipped roof, and 6 panelled door flanked by narrow fixed lights. C20 glazed door inside with glazing bars and rectangular overlight with margin lights. Doorway flanked by single glazing bar sashes with 3 above, all with moulded ashlar keystones. Single central dormer with sliding sash. South return has central partially glazed door with fixed glazing bar window above. To the right are glazed french windows, to the left a glazing bar sash with 3 glazing bar sashes above. All the openings have moulded ashlar keystones. 2 dormers with sliding sashes. Hall and flanking rooms have fielded oak panelling of c1730 and fine moulded cornices decorated with modillions, egg and dart and flower heads. Fine oak 3 flight return staircase with 3 slender balusters to the tread, one twisted, 2 columnar with small knops, carved tread ends and moulded hand rail. Flanking rooms have plain bolecton moulded marble fireplaces. Listing NGR: TF1897098134
