Description
TF 18 NW LEGSBY MAIN STREET 2/14 Church of 1.11.66 St. Thomas G.V. II Parish church. C13, C16, late C18, with C19 alterations. Squared sandstone rubble with ashlar dressings and slate roofs. Western tower, nave, chancel. The tower has 3 stages with angle buttresses and plain parapet with corner obelisks. The pointed west doorway has 2 chamfered orders and a moulded hood, and above is a reset C16 2 light window with cusped heads to the lights and panels above, set in a rectangular moulded surround, parts of which are original. To belfry stage are single pointed louvred lights to the 4 walls. To the north side of the tower is a C19 vestry with 2 light window to west wall. North nave wall has 2 sets of paired lights. The chancel east window is C16 with concave chamfered reveal, 4 centred arched head with hood and 3 cusped lights. South wall of nave matches north and the paired lights all have chamfered surrounds and moulded square hoods. Interior. The single chamfered C13 tower and chancel arches have moulded octagonal responds. Fittings. The altar rails are early C18 with turned balusters and there is a late C18 panelled pulpit with tester. The tub font is early C12 with 2 orders of cable moulding around the top. All other fittings are C19. Listing NGR: TF1370685659
