Description

TF 1089-1189 KING STREET 1/24 No 32 (The Grange) (Children's Home) II 1891: Built for Dr C H Barker. A fine detached Queen Anne style house. Brick with projecting wooden eaves/cornice and tiled hipped roof. South front facing the road, double fronted, 2, 2 storey angle bays with sashes and hipped roofs. Single centrally placed dormer with sash window topped by steep pediment containing plaster decoration including initials C.H.B. East and West fronts are asymmetrical, the main entrance, east, has slightly projecting bay, front door with stone moulded door surround topped with broken scroll pediment, above large round headed window with glazing bars, topped with pediment containing oeil de beuf, 2, 2 storey bays of sashes, end bay with broad segment-headed ground floor window, canted square bay, on brackets above, roofed with steep pediment containing more decoration including date 1891. West, back entrance, similar though less elaborate. Listing NGR: TF1051389244
