Description

TF 29 NW THORGANBY MAIN STREET (west side) 5/62 Church of 1.11.66. All Saints II Parish Church. C13, mostly rebuilt c1900. Coursed ironstone rubble, limestone ashlar dressings, some red brick. Slate roofs with stone coped gables. West bellcote, nave with north aisle, rectangular chancel with boiler house and north vestry. High plinth runs over 2 stage angle buttress to south and 2 stage buttress dividing main vessel of nave from aisle. West window of 3 cusped lights, under shallow segmental head with hoodmould. Small bellcote with arched opening, gable and finial. North aisle west window is single cusped light. North aisle has 3 pairs of broad pointed lights. West door of north vestry with four centred head and plank door. Small rectangular window to east. Boilerhouse attached to vestry but slightly set back with single openings on north and east sides, partially under ground, that on north with plank door, that on east, blocked. East end of chancel has paired pointed lights with hoodmould, coped gable with finial above. South side of chancel has brick eaves and 2 pointed lights. 3 light late C13 window with interesting tracery. 2 light window of c1900 to west, with Y tracery. C13 doorway beyond with pointed chamfered arch and chamfered jambs. Early C13 interior north arcade of 3 bays, with double chamfered pointed arches, round piers and semi-circular responds, with plain capitals. C13 chancel arch with double chamfered, pointed arch supported on corbels with polygonal abaci. Timber roof over nave, and ceiling over chancel both of c1900. Mid C18 altar rail painted blue. C20 pews reusing 8, C16 bench ends with square heads and bold tracery. C13 octagonal stone font on rectangular plinth with nicked corners. C18 hatchment over south door. C20 pulpit and lectern.
