Description
TA 10 SW NETTLETON CHURCH STREET 3/16 Glebe Farmhouse II Farmhouse; possibly late C15 with C17, C18 alterations and C19 alterations and additions; timber frame, coursed ironstone rubble, render, brick, pantile roof with one brick coped gable and 4 brick stacks one at left hand gable end and the right hand stack being demolished above the ridge. Open hall with cross passage and cross wing parlour block, later C19 house added to left. The earlier building consists of a 2 storey with garret 2 bay crossing advanced under a gabled roof at the left hand end and a 2 bay single storey hall block now used for storage. The parlour block is rendered and has a 1st floor band. The ground floor fenestration consists of 2 C19 timber cross mullion casements, the 1st floor has 2 C18 glazing bar sashes and the garret a single glazing bar sash. All openings have segmental heads. The hall wing is rendered stone with 2 glazing bar sashes and a long blank wall. The gable end is iron stone with brick quoins and tumbled gable. At the rear one timber bay post of the original frame is visible. The interior: The open hall has been floored in late C18 and the roof renewed. One moulded tie beam is still visible delineating the cross passage. The C19 brick 2 storey 3 bay wing to the left consists of a slightly advanced bay containing the C19 1/2 glazed door in a semi- circular opening of 3 recessed orders with 2 plain sashes to the left. Above the door is a plain sash and to the left 2 C19 mullion timber casements. Listing NGR: TA1108300140
