SEDGEBROOK SK83NE CHURCH LANE 1315-0/3/222 (West side (off)) 19/02/52 Sedgebrook Manor House II* Manor house. c1632, remodelled, probably by Sir John Thorold, c1716, with C18 rear additions. Refenestrated early C19. Coursed squared stone with ashlar dressings and pantile roof. 2 coped ashlar gable stacks. Plinth, first floor band, quoins, moulded eaves band, parapet with small panelled pedestals and finials, coped gables. 2 storeys plus garrets; 6 window range. L-plan. Windows are 12-pane glazing bar sashes. Piano nobile has a central scrolled cartouche with a coat of arms, and above it, a round sundial. On either side, 3 large windows with moulded surrounds, aprons, and triangular pediments. Central doorcase with eared architrave, enriched frieze, and broken pediment with a mask crowned with a finial. C19 half-glazed double door and overlight. On either side, 3 windows with deeply chamfered surrounds under shallow relieving arches. Each return has a garret window. INTERIOR contains a hall with C17 panelling and fireplace, and a resited C17 fireplace in the dining room. 2 first floor rooms with C17 panelling.
