Description
SOMERBY HILL 1. 1146 Spittlegate Mill and Mill House SK 93 SW 4/41 II 2. On River Witham South of meeting of Bridge End Road and Somerby Hill. The Mill House is late C18; 3-storey, brick, pantile roof, stone bands between 1st and 2nd floor windows, 5 windows north-west front; flat stone arches with shaped tops and keystones; flush frames, glazing bars. Central doorway on a south-east front with similar head as windows with plain hood on simple brackets. Cast iron escape stair covers end of north-west front. Mill adjoins house; 2-storey, brick, slate roof; square-headed brick window. 2 segmental brick arches with plain stone imposts and keys below buildings span the river. Picturesquely situated, style common locally. Listing NGR: SK9220834920
