Description

TA 00 SW NORTH KELSEY MAIN STREET 1/24 Church Farm House, gateposts, wall 1-11-66 and railings. G.V. II Farmhouse; late C16 with C18 and C19 alterations; colour washed pebble dashed brickwork and ironstone, with stucco dressings, slate roof with one C19 red brick stack with 3 diagonally set brick tunnels and a left hand gable stack with one tunnel; E- plan; one and a half storey with through eaves dormers, 7 bay front with 2 projecting gabled wings at each end both with a glazing bar sash with splayed flat lintel to ground floor and a smaller glazing bar sash with hood mould to 1st floor. The gables have bargeboards and long wooden pinnacles. The projecting gabled closed porch is central to the facade and has a round headed door opening and vertical slot over. It is flanked by single glazing bar sashes with hood moulds, to the right is further narrow glazing bar sash, lighting the base of the stair, also with a hood mould. Above are 2 through eaves glazing bar sash dormers. The eaves overhang and the C19 rafter ends are exposed. In the right hand gable is a glazing bar sash with hood mould and a band at 1st floor level. The left hand gable is partly colour washed stone and could be part of an earlier building. A rendered wall with railings above runs between the 2 projecting wings. The central octagonal gateposts have pyramidal caps, the flanking low screen is of C19 cast iron railings and the end walls are castellated. The interior has one exposed C16 oak beam, a C18 corner cupboard in the hall/living room, and the dog leg stairs have curved splat balusters which could date from C16. Listing NGR: TA0441001532
