Description

BILLINGBOROUGH HIGH STREET TF 1034-1134 (east side) 4/24 Buckminster Hall II Small country house. 1669, remodelled in late C19, C20. Coursed limestone rubble, limestone ashlar, red brick. Slate roof with stone coped north gable with ashlar gable stacks; double ridge hipped slate roofs to C19 addition to north, with decorated eaves and single brick lateral stack. C17 range to south with 2 storeys and attic and 4 bay front. Doorway to right with projecting ashlar doorcase with moulded eaves, triangular headed doorway with moulded keystone and interior glazed door with glazing bars. Central brick bay window to right with 3 narrow ashlar dressed plain sashes. 2 light ashlar dressed window to left with narrow plain sahses. Canted brick bay window beyond with 3 narrow ashlar dressed plain sashes. 4 plain sashes above and moulded parapet. 3 dormer windows with off-centre flat headed C19 glazing bar sash flanked by single 5 light C20 casements. Chimney inscribed "BTA DNI ANO 1669". 2 storey, 3 bay C19 brick addition to north with canted ashlar dressed bay window to right with a central pair of glazed doors flanked by single narrow plain sahes, alternating with pilasters with ornate capitals. 2 ashlar dressed plain sahses to left with raised keystones. Tripartite plain sash to right with ashlar surround and raised keystone. 2 ashlar dressed plain sashes to left with raised keystones. Interior of no interest. Listing NGR: TF1176434043
