Description

COLSTERWORTH HIGH STREET (west side) No.48 (Thirtle) (Formerly listed as No.48 (Thirtle)) 24.9.79 G.V. II Former public house, now house. 1789 with minor C19 and C20 alterations. Squared limestone rubble with ashlar dressings, concrete tiled roof, red brick gable stack. Three storey, three bay front with central C20 door and overlight having inset boot scrapers to each side, flanked by single margin lights. To first floor three similar windows. Ground and first floor opening have segmental stone heads with raised keystones. To second floor a central datestone with "1789" in raised numbers is flanked by single two-light sliding glazing bar sashes with flat splayed arches. Over the door is a faded sign painted onto the stonework "Thirtle" with end scrolls. Listing NGR: SK9304624041
