Description
BELTON & MANTHORPE SK9239 WASHDYKE LANE, Belton 1315-0/8/67 (North side) No.4 Vine Cottage GV II Estate cottage, now a house. Dated 1848, with late C20 alterations. Coursed squared stone with ashlar front and dressings, and glazed pantile roof. 2 ashlar gable stacks with square coped double flues. Jacobean Revival style. Plinth, coped gables with kneelers. Single storey plus attics; 2 window range. Windows are 2-light glazing bar casements with wooden mullions. 2 large through-eaves dormers with coped gables and finials. Central board door flanked by single larger windows, and with a datestone above it. All the openings have projecting stone surrounds. At the rear, a single storey outbuilding with pantile roof. An estate cottage provided for workers on the Belton estate by the Brownlow family of Belton House. (The Buildings of England: Pevsner N, Harris J & Antram N: Lincolnshire: London: 1964-1989: 136).
