Description

HARLAXTON SK8832 HIGH STREET 1315-0/14/193 (East side) 24/09/79 Nos.61, 63 AND 65 (Formerly Listed as: HIGH STREET Nos.1, 2 and 3 The Cottages) GV II 3 houses. c1700, altered c1800, and remodelled c1830, with C20 alterations. Brick with ashlar dressings and pantile roof. External brick gable stack and ridge stack, with octagonal brick double flues on moulded stone bases. Rendered plinth, dentillated eaves, coped gables with kneelers. Single storey plus attics; 3 window range. Ground floor windows have leaded glazing. 3 C19 gabled through-eaves dormers, rendered, with mid C19 and C20 glazing. To right, 2 chamfered Tudor arched doorways, one with board door, flanked to left by a 3-light stone mullioned window, all under a common cornice. Beyond, to right, a similar window, and to left, a 2-light window, both with cornices. Each gable has single attic window, that to left with stone surround. This building is probably one of those altered c1790-1820 by George de Ligne Gregory and remodelled in a picturesque style c1820-1840 by Gregory Gregory, successive Lords of the Manor of Harlaxton.
