Description

HARLAXTON SK8832 TROTTERS LANE 1315-0/14/215 (West side) 24/09/79 Mullions and attached boundary walls and stable II Estate cottage, now a house, and attached boundary walls and stable. Dated 1793, altered c1860-1875. Red brick with ashlar dressings and concrete tile roof with wooden eaves brackets and traceried bargeboards. 2 coped brick gable stacks. 2 storeys; 3 window range. L-plan. Windows have chamfered stone mullions and surrounds, and leaded glazing. Central 2-light window flanked by 3-light windows. Central gabled porch with chamfered doorway and board door, and above the door, a cast-iron plaque with armorial devices and the monogram "JSG". Single light window in each side. Beyond, on each side, a larger 3-light cross mullioned window with cornice. Attached to the right return, to south, a brick boundary wall with a gateway and segmental tile coping, approx 10m long. At the rear, to north, a coursed rubble wall with slab coping, approx 5m long. Gabled rear wing, and attached single storey stable parallel to the main range. This building is one of those built or altered c1790-1820 by George de Ligne Gregory and further altered c1860-1875 by John Sherwin Gregory, Lords of the Manor of Harlaxton.
