Description
SWAYFIELD CORBY ROAD SK 92 SE (north side) 5/199 No.5 (Manor House) G.V. II House. Early C17 with mid C18 alterations and additions, C19 and C20 alterations. Coursed limestone rubble with ashlar quoins and dressings, Collyweston slate and Welsh slate roofs with stone coped gables and roll moulded ridge. Central square ashlar ridge stack with cornice and 4 moulded shafts. Originally L-plan with C18 range added to side front. 2 storey with garret, single bay gabled C17 range to left of side front (south) with single 3 light C20 casements under timber lintels to ground and first floor and single garret light. In 2 storey C18 wing, with Welsh slate roof, a C19 half glazed door is covered by timber porch with shaped lead hood. To left single 3 light casements under timber lintels to each floor. The gable end on the north side has single margin lights to ground and first floors with moulded stone architraves. Interior retains in the storage area at the rear of the house a C17 fireplace with moulded bressummer having jewel stop. In the room above is a C18 bolection moulded fireplace surround with Bath grate inset. Listing NGR: SK9884022731
