Description

HORBLING HIGH STREET TF 13 NW (east side) 1/131 Horbling Hall G.V. II House. c.1860. Limestone ashlar, coursed limestone rubble. Slate roofs with stone coped gables with kneelers, modillioned eaves on return walls and single ridge and gable stacks, and 3 lateral stacks, all of ashlar. 2 storeys and garret, 3 bay front with projecting gabled ashlar bay to left, and 2 rubble bays to right, that to the right also gabled. Plinth. 2 canted long bay windows each with double glazed doors flanked by ashlar pilasters and narrow fixed lights. Rectangular bay window to the left with a 3 light mullion window flanked by single lights. Central canted bay carried up to join upper canted bay window with 3 plain sashes with ashlar surrounds and battlements. Right hand bay carried up to join upper canted bay window with 3 plain sashes with ashlar surrounds, battlements and a slit light in the gable above. Left hand rectangular bay carried up to join a canted first floor bay with 2 light mullion casement flanked by single lights. Small 2 light casement above in gable. Doorway in west return. Fine contemporary 3 flight return staircase of mahogany with 2 turned bannisters to each tread, carved tread ends, bold, richly moulded bulbous newel and moulded handrail. Delicately moulded ornate plaster cornices. Listing NGR: TF1184635143
