Description

TF 11 SW BASTON MAIN STREET (south side) 6/39 Manor House 6.5.52 G.V. II Farmhouse. C16, altered and extended C17, late C18, late C19 and C20. Squared coursed limestone rubble with ashlar quoins, partly lined render to first floor with possible timber frame behind. Collyweston slate roof, partly hipped, with lead dressings, single large ridge brick stack and C20 wall stack on external stone base. L-plan. 2 storey plus garret, 4 bay front, the left hand bay is advanced and gabled. Chamfered plinth to right hand bays. Off-centre 6 panel door with plain overlight covered by C20 wooden porch. To left a single tripartite Venetian window with glazing bars and a C20 casement beyond. To right a C19 canted bay window. To first floor are 3 plain casements and a glazing bar casement to left. In the right hand 3 bays the windows have C17 ashlar reveals. To the garret a further 2 light glazing bar sliding sash. The gabled left hand bay is rendered above the ground floor probably covering a C16 timber frame. The rear of the house has C18 brickwork above a stone base and 2 two storey canted bay windows, now with plain sashes and double doors. Interior retains some chamfered beams and the floor levels, external stack and roof shape all suggest an open hall now floored in. Listing NGR: TF1194514356
