Description

HARLAXTON SK8832 CHURCH STREET 1315-0/14/143 (East side) 24/09/79 No.17 Village Farmhouse GV II Farmhouse, now house. c1800. Red brick with brick dressings and hipped and gabled slate roofs. 2 coped brick ridge stacks. Wooden soffit. 2 storeys; 3 window range. Windows are mainly casements with rubbed brick segmental heads. Central half-round bay window with conical roof, with a 2-light wooden framed Gothick cross casement. Below, a 6-panel door and 2-light fanlight, in Gothick style, with splayed lintel. To right, a 3-light casement on each floor. To left, a blocked window on each floor. Right return has a blank to left, then 2 casements. Below, a blank and a 3-light casement. Beyond, a slightly recessed rear wing, 2 storeys, 3 windows. This building is probably one of those built or altered c1790-1820 by George de Ligne Gregory, Lord of the Manor of Harlaxton.
