Description
BELTON LANE 1. 1146 Harrowby Mill Home SK 93 NW 2/202 II 2. Mill house built 1702. Mill has been pulled down river diverted but two millstones remain. House, 2-storey, covered with 1898 'half timbering' and plaster, and bow windows. Interior of house - kitchen, original beam ceiling, door lintel and floor height window original cellar below. Other two rooms have beams plastered over the floors lowered. Walls very thick, with some original window frames. Originally owned by Harrowby estate, bought by Mr Sellars, then by Mr Willoughby, who added the 'half timbering', bow windows and various ornamental arches in Ancaster stone. The present tenant (at the time of survey) has photographs of the house before ornamentation, showing the original windows. Listing NGR: SK9212337168
