Description
DENTON CASTHORPE ROAD SK 8632-8732 (West side) 10/38 Old Rectory 21/9/79 II Former rectory now house. 1841 by Anthony Salvin. Squared ironstone rubble with limestone ashlar quoins and dressings. Hipped slate roof with lead dressings, 6 stepped ashlar wall stacks. 2 storey, 5 bay front with plain plinth and coved ashlar first floor band. The right hand end bay is recessed and the second bay from left is advanced containing half glazed double doors with traceried fanlight in semi-circular headed moulded stone surround. To left a single and to right a pair of glazing bar sashes, with beyond a 2 light metal casement. To first floor 5 glazing bar sashes. The 3 bay garden front has a pair of tall plain sashes and a glazing bar sash. To the rear further sashes and a tall semi-circular headed stair light. Interior retains stick baluster stair with wreathed handrail, contemporary doors and architraves. Listing NGR: SK8660732948
