Description
ASHBY DE LA LAUNDE MAIN STREET: Ashby TF 05 SE AND BLOXHOLM (north side) 4/4 Nos 2 and 4 8.5.86 - II Pair of estate cottages. c1840 in the Gothick style. Coursed limestone rubble, with fishscale tile roof with pronounced curvy barge boards, and a pair of octagonal brick ridge stacks. Single storey plus attic. 5 bay south front with central pointed doorway, with plank door, and either side two pointed windows with Y tracery frames. All these openings have plain, bold rubble surrounds. Above 2 gabled dormers also with curvy barge boards and pointed windows with Y tracery frames and casements. Built for John Wm King of Ashby Hall. Listing NGR: TF0578154951
