Description
TF 05 SE 4/4 ASHBY DE LA LAUNDE AND BLOXHOLM Ashby MAIN STREET (north side) No 4 The Fort (Formerly listed as Nos 2 and 4) 8.5.86 II Pair of estate cottages. C1840 in the Gothick style. Coursed limestone rubble, with fishscale tile roof with pronounced curvy barge boards, and a pair of octagonal brick ridge stacks. Single storey plus attic. Five bay south front with central pointed doorway, with plank door, and either side two pointed windows with Y tracery frames. All these openings have plain, bold rubble surrounds. Above two gabled dormers also with curvy barge boards and pointed windows with Y tracery frames and casements. Built for John Wm King of Ashby Hall. Listing NGR: TF0578154951
