Description
RUSKINGTON PRIORY ROAD TF 05 SE 4/58 Nos 1 to 7 (odd) J R Scott's Almshouses - II Row of 4 almshouses. 1904. White brick with red brick and ashlar dressings. Plain tile roofs with ornate ridge tiles. 3 sets of ridge stacks. Red brick plinth, quoins, cill band and eaves. Single storey. 6-bay. Central 2 bays project slightly, with wide overhanging gable with ornate barge-boarding and finial surmounted by a weather vane. Two 3-light casements with upper glazing bar lights, flat brick heads and ashlar keystones. Above in the gable a round-headed ashlar plaque inscribed 'J R SCOTT. ALMSHOUSES 1904' with red brick surround and ashlar keystone. Either side are single round-headed doorways with ornate, curved pediments with ashlar coping. Either side are single 3-light casements with glazing bar upper lights, flat brick heads and ashlar keystones, each under a single gable with ornate barge-boarding and a finial.
