Description

Subject to a minor amendment on 07 June 2017 Name and address changed from Obelisk 20 metres north west of Tree Tops, Rookery Lane to Obelisk 4 metres south east of No 4, Rookery Lane. Last sentence of description amended to 'No 4, Rookery Lane is not included in this list.' from 'Tree Tops, Rookery Lane, is not included in this list.' LEASINGHAM ROOKERY LANE (north side) Obelisk 20 metres north-west of Tree Tops TF 04 NE 8/43 II Obelisk tombstone. c1835. Ashlar and red polished granite. Square plan, with 3 ashlar steps, surmounted by a polished red granite square base inscribed N Richard Wharton Myddleton died 1835 and his wife Frances Penelope Myddleton died 1873. Above a tall obelisk rises to 4 metres in height. Richard Myddleton quarrelled with the then REctor and decided to be buried in what was then the garden of his home Leasingham Hall.
