Description

BELTON & MANTHORPE SK9339 MAIN STREET, Belton 1315-0/9/44 (East side) 21/09/79 Nos.10 AND 11 (Formerly Listed as: VILLAGE STREET Nos.8-11) II Pair of estate cottages, now houses. Dated 1822, with late C19 and C20 alterations. Red brick, formerly colourwashed, with ashlar dressings and slate roofs with bargeboards. Rendered coped brick ridge stack on ashlar base. 2 storeys; 3 window range. Windows are C19 and C20 casements. Central blank flanked by 2-light windows on the first floor and by 3-light windows below. Ground floor windows have concrete lintels. Beyond, on either side, a set back hipped porch with a round arched doorway and weatherstripped door. Estate cottages provided for workers on the Belton estate by the Brownlow family of Belton House.
